The environs
The
sea
Close to the farm there are the Plaja beaches, 3-km long, open
10 months out of 12. At the lidos you can find: showers with hot
water, too; swimming pool with solarium, canoe and pedal boat
rental, bar, restaurant, a wide playground for children, beach
volley field, bowling green, ping pong tables, tamburello fields,
fully-equipped gym, and a beauty centre. All surrounded by a good
animation team offering daily music, games and parties.

The
mountain
In half an hour you can reach Mount Etna, the highest active volcano
in Europe (3340 m) with its flora and fauna that are unique worldwide.
In Catania Mount Etna is called “a muntagna” offering
special emotions throughout the year. During winter nothing is
more exciting than skiing watching the sea. For snow-lovers nothing
is missing, such as equipped ski resorts, refuges, Alpine guides.
In summer, instead, the fresh air is of great relief for walks-in-the-nature
lovers. How to forget erupting craters, which thanks to expert
guides it is possible to organize very safe excursions to. Are
also worth mentioning the very tasty products Mount Etna offers,
such as the autochthon apples, the pistachios, the mushrooms,
etc…that Mount Etna inhabitants can transform in delicious
food specialities.
Itineraries
Sicily is a marvellous island, whose beauties could not be described
neither in one hundred pages. We can only mention some of its
most famous tourist resorts, all of which are easy to reach from
Bagnara.
Catania (2
km). One of the most important cities in Italy, full of historical
monuments, marvellous churches, museums and meeting places. Not
to miss St. Agatha’s Feast from the 3rd to the 5th of February.
St Agatha’s Feast is one of the most solemn religious events
in the world.
Acireale (28 km). Well known tourist resort, it is famous for
its Carnival, which is considered the most important in Sicily,
and for its restaurants where to eat very good fish.
Taormina (60 Km). It is considered the pearl of the Mediterranean
Sea. Besides its famous Greek Theatre, it offers visitors the
pleasure of walking through its enchanting streets, alleys and
lanes.
Siracusa (60 Km). In old times it was the capital of Magna Greece
while today is part of the Unesco World Heritage reporting years
and years of history, from the Greek Theatre to the characteristic
medieval area of Ortigia.
Agrigento (160 Km). It is famous for its Valley of Temples, where,
among almond and olive trees, arise the ruins of the big sacred
temples of Akragas, witnesses of ages of history.
Palermo (200 Km). Not to miss the Royal Palace with the magnificent
Palatina Chapel,
the Church of San Giovanni degli Eremiti and the marvellous Cathedral,
which keeps the tombs of the Norman Kings and the Swedish Emperor
Frederick II.
